Costs

What affects the cost of Paxton access control?

No two buildings cost the same to control, which is why we survey before we quote. These are the things that move the price.

  • Number of doors

    Biggest factor

Each controlled door needs a reader and a lock, or a wireless handle, plus cabling and set-up time. Starting with the doors that matter most keeps the cost down, and more doors can be added later.

  • Which Paxton system

    Varies

Stand-alone control is the simplest option for a few doors. Net2 and Paxton10 are networked systems that cost more to set up, but are much easier to manage across many doors or several sites.

  • Wired or wireless

    Site specific

PaxLock handles are battery-powered and wireless, so they need less cabling and fit existing doors with minimal disruption. Wired readers and locks suit doors where a handle is not the right fit.

  • Credentials

    Varies

Tokens and cards are the usual way in. Paxton10 also supports biometric authentication.

  • Door entry and CCTV

    If required

Adding a Paxton door entry panel, or linking access control to CCTV, adds equipment and commissioning time.

  • Maintenance

    Ongoing

Our maintenance contracts include a full check twice a year as standard, with remote support and diagnostics between visits.

Paxton access control

Paxton access control systems for business

Access control replaces keys with tokens, cards or other credentials, so you decide who can open each door and when.

Paxton offers networked, web-based and stand-alone systems, along with door entry and wireless door handles. We recommend the combination that suits your building, the number of doors and how you want to manage it.

Managing your system

Access control is only useful if it is easy to keep up to date, so we set up users, access levels and administrators before we hand over.

Remote management

Net2 and Paxton10 let administrators add users, change access rights and see who has entered from a central location. Paxton10 is web-based, so it can be managed from anywhere with an internet connection.

Linked to your CCTV

Paxton10 integrates with CCTV cameras, so what happens at a door can be matched to video. We also install CCTV systems, so both can be designed together.

Not every site needs a networked system. Where stand-alone control does the job we will say so.

Paxton systems we install

Paxton10, Net2 and stand-alone access control

As a Paxton Gold Partner, we install Paxton's web-based, networked and stand-alone systems, and we look after Paxton systems already in place.

We recommend the system that suits your site, and where Paxton is not the right fit we also install Avigilon access control.

Paxton10

Web-based access control

Paxton10 can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, and adds biometric authentication and integration with CCTV cameras. It suits schools, offices, healthcare settings and care homes.

CCTV systems

Paxton Net2

Networked access control

Net2 lets you manage multiple doors and sites, monitor who enters and exits, and change access rights from a central location. Like Paxton10, it suits the same kinds of premises.

Maintenance and servicing

Stand-alone

Offline access control

Stand-alone systems work without network connectivity, controlling individual doors or areas without a central system. They suit smaller installations such as small businesses, storage units, warehouses and industrial units.

Access control systems

Paxton products

Door entry, wireless handles and support

Around the core system, these Paxton products and services can be added to suit your site.

Each one works with Paxton access control, and some can also be used on their own.

Paxton door entry

Three parts: an external panel, a door control unit and an internal audio or video monitor. Visitors call from the panel and you grant or deny access.

Best for: entrances where you need to see or hear visitors before letting them in.

Worth knowing: it can supplement an existing access control system or work on its own.

PaxLock wireless handles

Battery-powered, wireless electronic door handles that fit existing doors, so there are no keys to manage.

Best for: internal doors where new cabling would be disruptive.

Worth knowing: they need less cabling, so installation is quick with minimal disruption. We also fit the 2N Fortis handle.

Tokens, cards and biometrics

The credential each user carries or presents at the reader to open a door.

Best for: every Paxton system, from one door to several sites.

Worth knowing: Paxton10 also supports biometric authentication, where a token alone is not enough.

Takeovers and maintenance

We service, maintain and take over Paxton systems installed by other companies.

Best for: sites with an existing Paxton system that needs looking after.

Worth knowing: maintenance contracts include a full check twice a year as standard, with remote support and diagnostics. See maintenance.

How an installation works

Each type of premises has its own priorities, from staff-only areas and stock rooms to visitor entrances. We design around how the site is actually used, and for high-traffic entrances we also install turnstiles.

“Advance Security has been our security systems installer and maintainer for the last 16 years. Our site has developed massively in that time and the security requirements have grown accordingly.

We have Access Control Systems covering some 130 entrance doors across three offices in the UK and Advance has been instrumental in ensuring they were delivered to meet our demanding deadlines.

Our CCTV system was recently brought up to the latest high definition IP platform, and again Advance Security were there to provide the transition, ensuring the minimum down time.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Advance Security, they have a can-do attitude, and are always on call at a moment’s notice when we need them – any faults being resolved or repaired the same day.”
