Costs

What affects the cost of Avigilon cameras and video?

Prices depend on how much of the site you need to see, and in how much detail, so we price after a survey. These are the main variables.

  • Number and type of cameras

    Biggest factor

The more areas you want to watch, the more cameras you need. One panoramic camera can take the place of several fixed ones in an open space.

  • Level of detail needed

    Varies

Reading a number plate or picking out a face at distance takes more resolution or a longer lens than a general view of a yard.

  • On-premises or cloud

    Site specific

Unity records to servers on your premises. Alta keeps footage in the cloud for a subscription, with no recorders to house.

  • Analytics

    Varies

Many Avigilon cameras detect people and vehicles out of the box. Extras such as licence plate recognition can carry their own licence.

  • Cabling and network

    Site specific

Avigilon IP cameras need network cabling and switch capacity. Where the existing network is sound, an upgrade costs less.

  • Maintenance

    Ongoing

Cleaning, firmware updates and recording checks keep footage usable. Our contracts include two full visits a year, with remote diagnostics in between.

Avigilon CCTV

What Avigilon CCTV does

Avigilon cameras record high-definition video and use AI analytics to recognise people and vehicles, so the system can alert you to activity that matters and help you find footage in seconds rather than hours of scrolling.

The video is managed either on-premises with Avigilon Unity or in the cloud with Avigilon Alta. Both give authorised users secure access to live and recorded video from a phone, tablet or PC.

Avigilon AI CCTV Cameras

Watching and finding footage

Good cameras are wasted if nobody can reach the footage, so before handover we agree who can see which cameras, which events raise an alert and how clips are exported.

Video in your pocket

Avigilon apps show live views and recordings on a phone, tablet or PC, and send an alert when an analytics rule is triggered.

Works with your doors

Pair Avigilon CCTV with Avigilon access control or an intruder alarm, and each door or alarm event can be matched to the clip that shows it.

Analytics and storage are set per camera. A car park camera and a corridor camera rarely need the same settings, and matching them keeps the cost down.

The Avigilon range

Cameras, software and analytics

An Avigilon system has three parts: the cameras, the video management software that records and plays back footage, and the AI analytics that make hours of video searchable.

We install and support the whole system, so the cameras, software and analytics are set up to work together from day one.

Unity Video

On-premises video management

Recording stays on servers at your site, giving you full control of your video data. It suits sites that want to keep recordings on their own servers.

Commercial CCTV systems

Alta Video

Cloud video management

Cloud-based, so there are no recording servers to maintain on site, and footage can be viewed from anywhere with a secure login.

What is cloud CCTV?

AI video analytics

Search and alerts

Appearance Search finds a person or vehicle across your cameras from a description, and alerts flag people or vehicles where they should not be.

CCTV analytics explained

Camera types

Which Avigilon camera suits which job

The right camera depends on what it needs to see, how far away, and in what light. These four types cover most business sites, and most systems use a mix.

Avigilon also makes specialty cameras, including thermal and licence plate recognition models. For vehicle access, see ANPR cameras.

Dome cameras

Compact, low-profile cameras for indoor and outdoor use.

Best for: entrances, corridors, reception areas and shop floors.

Worth knowing: each dome watches a fixed view, so we plan its position and lens at the survey.

Bullet and box cameras

Long-range detail, with AI analytics built in, for indoor and outdoor use.

Best for: car parks, yards, perimeters and long approaches.

Worth knowing: they are clearly visible, which helps to deter as well as record.

PTZ cameras

Pan, tilt and zoom to follow activity across a large area and capture the detail an investigation needs.

Best for: large open sites, loading areas and campuses.

Worth knowing: a PTZ camera records where it is pointing, so it is usually paired with fixed cameras.

360° and panoramic cameras

Up to 360-degree views from a single camera position.

Best for: open-plan offices, warehouses, atriums and junctions.

Worth knowing: one panoramic camera can often replace several fixed cameras.

SSAIB certified CCTV installers

Our CCTV installations are carried out under our SSAIB certification, which covers CCTV, intruder alarms and access control. SSAIB is a UKAS-accredited certification body. CCTV that records people also brings data protection duties, such as signage and how long footage is kept, so we set up retention periods and user access with you at handover.

Local to you

Avigilon CCTV across Cambridgeshire and East Anglia

We are a Cambridgeshire business with local engineers, providing responsive maintenance and long-term support for the Avigilon systems we install.

Areas we cover

We install and maintain Avigilon CCTV across Cambridgeshire and East Anglia, including Cambridge, Huntingdon, Peterborough, St Ives, St Neots, Ely, Wisbech, March, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds.

Our engineers are local to the region, and we also work with national clients across the UK.

Sectors we work in

We install CCTV for premises including offices, retail premises, warehouses, schools, healthcare facilities and pharmaceutical sites.

  • Offices
  • Retail
  • Warehouses
  • Schools
  • Healthcare
  • Pharmaceutical

Each site has different priorities, from watching stock and loading bays to covering entrances and car parks. We choose cameras around how the site is actually used.

“Advance Security has been our security systems installer and maintainer for the last 16 years. Our site has developed massively in that time and the security requirements have grown accordingly. We have Access Control Systems covering some 130 entrance doors across three offices in the UK and Advance has been instrumental in ensuring they were delivered to meet our demanding deadlines. Our CCTV system was recently brought up to the latest high definition IP platform, and again Advance Security were there to provide the transition, ensuring the minimum down time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Advance Security, they have a can-do attitude, and are always on call at a moment’s notice when we need them – any faults being resolved or repaired the same day.”
