Overview

FAAC barriers, bollards and gate automation for commercial sites

BDi Advance supplies, installs and maintains FAAC access automation for commercial sites across Cambridgeshire and East Anglia: automatic car park barriers, Magnetic barriers, bollards, and sliding and swing gate operators. FAAC's range runs from compact operators to heavy-duty 3-phase drives, so we can match the equipment to the traffic, the opening and the budget, as part of our wider perimeter protection work.

  • Local engineers based in Huntingdon, covering Cambridgeshire and East Anglia
  • FAAC barriers, bollards and sliding and swing gate automation
  • Linked to access control, and able to work alongside ANPR cameras, where that adds value
  • A full check twice a year as standard in our maintenance contracts
  • 24-hour emergency technician call-out, 365 days a year
  • We also service and take over systems installed by other companies

Choosing a system

What decides the right FAAC system?

No two entrances are the same, which is why we survey before we quote. These are the things that decide the product and the price.

  • How much traffic uses it

    Biggest factor

FAAC rates its barriers by use frequency, from models for small and medium car parks to barriers built for continuous use. A busy distribution centre gate needs a heavier-duty unit than a staff car park.

  • Width of the opening

    Site specific

FAAC barrier beams run up to 8m, and Magnetic barriers go wider still. Wider openings need longer beams or larger gates, which changes the model.

  • Gate type and weight

    Varies

Sliding and swing gates need different operators. FAAC sliding operators handle gates up to 3,500kg, and swing operators suit leaves up to 800kg, mounted on the gate or underground.

  • How it is opened

    Your choice

Access control readers, keypads or a token acceptor, and the system can work alongside ANPR cameras. Each adds equipment, and linking to your existing access control can keep the cost down.

  • Power and groundworks

    Site specific

The choice of 24V, 230V or 3-phase operators, the cabling, and any groundworks for bollards or underground gate motors all affect the price.

  • Maintenance

    Ongoing

Moving equipment outdoors needs planned maintenance. Our contracts include a full check twice a year as standard.

FAAC access automation

Automatic barriers, gates and bollards

FAAC makes access automation for vehicle and pedestrian entrances: automatic barriers for car parks and site entrances, bollards for restricted areas and perimeter protection, and operators that automate sliding and swing gates.

We survey the entrance, recommend the FAAC product that suits how it is used, install and commission it, and look after it afterwards. Where a site needs more than one type of control, such as a barrier for staff parking and a sliding gate for deliveries, we design them to work together.

Control and integration

How an automated entrance decides who gets through matters as much as the gate itself, so we agree that with you and set it up during commissioning.

Access control

Open gates and barriers with the same fobs, cards or keypads your staff already use. The access control element is carried out under our SSAIB certification.

ANPR cameras

Gates and barriers can work alongside ANPR cameras, which recognise authorised number plates and record the vehicles that come and go.

Gates, barriers and bollards are mechanical equipment and sit outside our SSAIB certification. The access control and CCTV linked to them are covered by it.

FAAC product families

FAAC barriers, Magnetic barriers and bollards

The FAAC range covers most vehicle entrances on a commercial site. These are the product families we supply and install most often.

For a general guide to each type of equipment, see our barriers and bollards pages.

Automatic barriers

Car parks and site entrances

FAAC automatic barriers have beams up to 8m, from rapid models for busy car parks to barriers rated for continuous use at large industrial entrances.

Barriers

Magnetic barriers

Vehicles and pedestrians

Magnetic AutoControl, a division of FAAC Technologies, makes barriers for vehicles and pedestrians, including models for wide lanes.

Bollards

Parking, traffic and perimeters

FAAC bollards come in hydraulic, semi-automatic and fixed versions, in painted steel or stainless steel, for parking, commercial traffic and perimeter protection.

Bollards

Gate automation

FAAC gate automation

FAAC operators automate new or existing gates, from 24V operators to 3-phase drives for heavy industrial gates.

Which one suits your site depends on how the gate opens, its size and weight, and how often it is used.

Sliding gate operators

Motors for sliding gates, from 24V operators to robust 3-phase operators for heavy-duty industrial gates.

Best for: wide entrances and sites with no room for a gate to swing.

Worth knowing: FAAC sliding operators handle gates up to 3,500kg.

Swing gate operators

Electric operators for swing gates, in 230V and 24V versions, mounted on the gate or underground.

Best for: light commercial and commercial entrances with room for the gate to open.

Worth knowing: the range covers leaves up to 800kg and up to 7m long.

DAAB drives for large gates

DAAB, part of FAAC, develops heavy-duty drives with a strong emphasis on 3-phase technology and customised packages for large gates.

Best for: heavier gates and demanding industrial use.

Worth knowing: the same drive units can automate gates, doors and barriers.

Entry control

Gates and barriers can be opened by access control readers, keypads or a FAAC token acceptor at pedestrian or vehicle entrances, and can work alongside ANPR cameras.

Best for: sites that need a record of who comes and goes.

Worth knowing: linking to your existing access control often keeps the cost down.

Design and installation

How an installation works

We start by visiting the site at no charge, looking at the entrance, the traffic and the ground, and then recommend the FAAC system that fits the site and the budget.

  1. Site visit

  2. Design

Product, opening width, power and how the entrance is opened, planned around your site and its traffic

  3. Installation

Installed, commissioned and tested by our engineers

  4. Handover

  5. Ongoing support

Gate automation, access control and CCTV from one team

Barriers, bollards and gates are mechanical equipment, so they are not covered by our SSAIB certification. The access control and CCTV that run alongside them are carried out under our SSAIB certification, which covers intruder alarms, CCTV and access control, so one team can design the entrance, the credentials and the cameras together.

Local to you

FAAC access automation across Cambridgeshire and East Anglia

We are a Cambridgeshire business with local engineers, providing responsive maintenance and long-term support for the gates, barriers and bollards we install.

Areas we cover

We install and maintain FAAC access automation across Cambridgeshire and East Anglia, including Cambridge, Huntingdon, Peterborough, St Ives, St Neots, Ely, Wisbech, March, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds.

Our engineers are local to the region, and we also work with national clients across the UK.

Sectors we work in

FAAC systems are used on logistics and distribution centres, commercial and retail sites and industrial facilities to regulate the movement of vehicles and people. We work with commercial clients only.

  • Warehouses
  • Distribution centres
  • Retail
  • Industrial
  • Commercial premises

A distribution yard needs delivery traffic kept moving, while a staff car park may simply need closing at night. The design follows how your entrance is used.

“Papworth Trust have worked with Advance Security since 2012 on all aspects of security maintenance works, including door control, intruder alarms, Net2 access systems and project works such as gate installations. We have found them professional and attentive in their approach and would recommend them as an organised service provider within the security industry.”
